Source-derived summary

Yellowbird (French: Gus, petit oiseau, grand voyage) is a 2014 English-language CG-animated fantasy film directed by Christian De Vita.

The film features the voices of Seth Green, Dakota Fanning, Jim Rash, Yvette Nicole Brown, Christine Baranski, Richard Kind, Danny Glover and Elliott Gould. Additional performances by Brady Corbet and Jamie Denbo.

Plot

Darius (voiced by Danny Glover), the leader of a flock of birds, is wounded just before it is time for the birds to migrate to Africa. Information about how to lead the migration must be passed to the first bird that encounters Darius. That is Yellowbird (voiced by Seth Green) who is excited by the challenge but has very little life experience. Karl (voiced by Jim Rash) expected to take over as leader but Yellowbird lies to the flock and leads them south for the migration. He is really only a young hatchling with no experience and endangers the flock many times. Delf (voiced by Dakota Fanning) always supports him in the beginning. He flies north by mistake, landing in Holland and not Spain.

Editorial summary

This brief starts where responsible research should: with the source description of “Yellowbird (film)” as 2014 animated film directed by Christian De Vita. Everything that follows is an evidence route, not borrowed authority.

Editorial reviewA productive route into publication, performance and collection histories when the underlying object or edition remains clearly identified. The current lead gives the account dated anchors—2014—that can be checked directly. The authority record carries competing date values—2014-01-01, 2015-05-21, 2015-04-30, 2015-04-23—which should remain separate until their references and qualifiers are resolved. The account is most persuasive where Yellowbird, film and animated can be independently traced.
Editorial analysis

Why this record matters

The subject matters to the arts & letters register because the source frames it as 2014 animated film directed by Christian De Vita. Its deeper value depends on whether names, dates, institutions and citations support that framing.

Evidence profile

Object files, edition statements, performance records and contemporary criticism preserve different stages of the work’s history. The source revision retrieved here is dated Jul 31, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q18509179. 4 of 4 selected statements include explicit references; 3 carry qualifiers and 0 use preferred rank. The first chronological checks are 2014.

Critical limits

Rights, attribution and provenance may remain disputed even when a general reference summary presents a stable account. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.

How to read it

Separate the work, its editions or performances, and its later reception. Catalogue records, publication histories and object files often preserve different parts of that story.
