History
Yango initially started in 2018 as a brand developed by the team of Yandex Taxi and managed by Ridetech International B.V., a subsidiary of Yandex N.V., a Netherlands-registered holding company for the Russian IT conglomerate Yandex LLC. As of now Yango Group operates independently with HQ in Dubai.
Since its inception, the company’s flagship service Yango Ride has grown to operate in more than 25 countries. Its business model focuses on collaborating with local taxi companies, enhancing their efficiency through technology rather than owning vehicles or employing drivers directly. Yango Ride works with local taxi companies and technology partners in its initial markets.
Yango has diversified its operations beyond ride-hailing to include sectors such as mapping, mobility, entertainment, robotics, AI smart devices and so on.
Africa
Yango Ride's beta app was launched in Abidjan, Ivory Coast on October 4, 2018.
Since then Yango Ride has expanded to more African countries, including Ghana in 2019, Senegal and Cameroon in 2021, Angola, DRC, Mozambique and Zambia in 2022, Namibia, Ethiopia and Morocco in 2023.

Why this record matters
A short description can identify a subject without explaining its stakes. For “Yango Group”, the useful work is to connect “company headquartered in Dubai” to the records capable of establishing context and consequence.
Chronology, provenance and viewpoint should be read together before a broad social or political interpretation is accepted. The source revision retrieved here is dated Sep 22, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q104843604. None of the 2 selected statements returned an explicit reference. The first chronological checks are 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022.
Later summaries often reconcile disputed chronology or motive more neatly than the contemporary record permits. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
