Yambes language
language

Yambes is a Torricelli language of Papua New Guinea spoken mostly by older adults. There is little data to classify it, and it is therefore left unclassified within Torricelli by Malcolm Ross (2005). Dryer (2024), as cited in Drinfield (2024), classifies it as a Kombioic language.
It is spoken in Yambes village (3.545596°S 142.746582°E / -3.545596; 142.746582 (Yambes 1)) of Dreikikier Rural LLG, East Sepik Province.
This brief starts where responsible research should: with the source description of “Yambes language” as language. Everything that follows is an evidence route, not borrowed authority.
Why this record matters
The subject matters to the general reference register because the source frames it as language. Its deeper value depends on whether names, dates, institutions and citations support that framing.
Named sources, stable identifiers and responsible institutions provide the strongest route from overview to verifiable evidence. The source revision retrieved here is dated Aug 20, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q8048022. None of the 0 selected statements returned an explicit reference. The first chronological checks are 2005 and 2024.
The absence of detail may reflect summary conventions rather than a lack of surviving documentation. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
