History
In 2001, Yahoo Finance launched a subscription service providing access to real-time stock quotes; quotes on the free service were provided on a 20-minute delay. The site stopped using ticker information from Reuters in favor of direct feeds from major U.S. exchanges in 2005. A 2006 redesign introduced interactive charts to the site, and it began offering free real-time stock quotes in 2008.

Why this record matters
“Yahoo Finance” is worth following because a concise public description often conceals a longer documentary argument. Here, Yahoo, Finance and media provides the most credible route into that argument.
The citation trail is more important than the brevity of the summary: it shows where individual claims can be examined in context. The source revision retrieved here is dated Sep 22, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q4053432. 3 of 9 selected statements include explicit references; 9 carry qualifiers and 2 use preferred rank. The first chronological checks are 2008, 2024, 2017 and 2001.
A concise general-reference account can conceal disagreements about scope, terminology or the weight assigned to individual sources. The source lead contains qualifying language; that uncertainty should survive quotation, summary and reuse. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
