Warner Bros. Animation
animation division of Warner Bros. Television Group

Warner Bros. Animation Inc. (abbreviated as WBA) is an American animation studio and the main animation division and label of Warner Bros. owned by its Television Group division, the flagship television arm of Warner Bros. Discovery. It was established on March 15, 1980.
As the successor to Warner Bros. Cartoons, which was active from 1933 to 1969, the studio is closely associated with the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies characters, among others. Warner Bros. re-established its animation division in 1980 to produce Looney Tunes–related works.
Begin with the source’s own compact description: “Warner Bros. Animation” is animation division of Warner Bros. Television Group. The dossier treats that line as a proposition to test through Warner, Bros and Animation, not as a finished interpretation.
Why this record matters
The phrase “animation division of Warner Bros. Television Group” supplies a clear boundary for inquiry. It also exposes the unanswered questions: who defined that boundary, when it became stable and which sources sit outside it.
Reception evidence should be dated and situated: later canonical status may differ sharply from the work’s initial circulation. The source revision retrieved here is dated Sep 20, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q13416804. 1 of 2 selected statements include explicit references; 0 carry qualifiers and 0 use preferred rank. The first chronological checks are 1980, 1933 and 1969.
Later fame can flatten the distinction between original context, subsequent adaptation and institutional collecting history. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
