EZS-8
pharmaceutical compound

EZS-8, also known as 3-(2-aminoethyl)quinazoline-2,4-dione, is a very-low-potency serotonin 5-HT2A receptor partial agonist related to ketanserin. It has about 0.15% of the potency (EC50Tooltip half-maximal effective concentration = 66,000 nM) and 46% of the efficacy (EmaxTooltip maximal efficacy) of serotonin as a serotonin 5-HT2A receptor agonist in vitro. The N-(2-methoxy)benzyl analogue of EZS-8, RH-34, has 250-fold greater potency as a serotonin 5-HT2A receptor agonist in comparison. EZS-8 was first described in the scientific literature by 1999. N-Benzyl derivatives of EZS-8 like RH-34 had been described as early as 1996 or 1998. Some other analogues of EZS-8 such as WL299 and WL163 have been described as well.
Begin with the source’s own compact description: “EZS-8” is pharmaceutical compound. The dossier treats that line as a proposition to test through EZS-8, pharmaceutical and compound, not as a finished interpretation.
Why this record matters
The phrase “pharmaceutical compound” supplies a clear boundary for inquiry. It also exposes the unanswered questions: who defined that boundary, when it became stable and which sources sit outside it.
Vocabulary and entity names are the principal evidence signals here, because they determine the precision of every later search. The source revision retrieved here is dated Sep 12, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q134890222. None of the 0 selected statements returned an explicit reference. The first chronological checks are 1999, 1996 and 1998.
The absence of detail may reflect summary conventions rather than a lack of surviving documentation. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
