Source-derived summary

Rhyzobius chrysomeloides, the round-keeled Rhyzobius, is a species of beetle in the family Coccinellidae. It is found in most of Europe, North Africa and northern Asia.

Life History

R. chrysomeloides is a predatory species, feeding on aphids. R. chrysomeloides can typically be found on various species of trees and garden shrubs, first being recorded in Britain in 1996 on a pine tree.

Description

Adults reach a length of about 2.55–3.15 mm (0.100–0.124 in). They have an elongate oval, elongate oval, distinctly flattened body. The pronotum is brown and the elytra are reddish with a black pattern. The antenna and legs are brown. R. chrysomeloides is visually similar to Rhyzoius litura, but can be differentiated by its broader prosternal keel and the darker, U-shaped markings on its elytra.

Editorial summary

The public source identifies “Rhyzobius chrysomeloides” as species of insect. This brief keeps that definition visible, then builds a research path around Rhyzobius, chrysomeloides and species.

Editorial reviewUseful for establishing the present vocabulary of the subject while preserving a route back to the evidence on which that vocabulary rests. The current lead gives the account dated anchors—1996—that can be checked directly. The selected authority fields contribute no independent date. Its value is orientation rather than verdict, with Rhyzobius, chrysomeloides and species providing the first useful test.
Editorial analysis

Why this record matters

A short description can identify a subject without explaining its stakes. For “Rhyzobius chrysomeloides”, the useful work is to connect “species of insect” to the records capable of establishing context and consequence.

Evidence profile

Datasets, specimens, observations and peer-reviewed methods provide the appropriate test for the technical claims summarized here. The source revision retrieved here is dated Jul 19, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q1564090. None of the 0 selected statements returned an explicit reference. The first chronological checks are 1996.

Critical limits

Scientific names, classifications and consensus can change while older terminology persists in catalogues and historical literature. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.

How to read it

Check terminology, classification and the date of the cited evidence. Scientific names and technical consensus can change while older records retain historical value.
