Sidi (company)
Italian company that manufactures protective wear for motorcycling and cycling

SIDI (stylized as SiDI) is an Italian company founded in 1960 by its current president Dino Signori. The company takes its name from his initials. It specializes primarily in protective and technical footwear for diverse forms of cycling and motorcycling.
SIDI is one of the most well known brands of cycling shoes. Its non-MTB shoes have been used by many famous professional cyclists to win many important races, including world championships. Originally, shoes were made with leather uppers and leather soles. Sidi was one of the first, if not the first cycling shoe company to offer adjustable position cleats. Previous cleats needed to be mounted with tacks by a cobbler or the owner. The first Sidi shoe in 1973 was called the Sidi Titanium, and featured a large rectangular titanium plate that covered the area of the sole in contact with the pedal surface. Since the late 1970s, plastics and other man-made materials, including Lorica and carbon fibre have been used (in models such as Sidi Ergo 1 and Sidi Ergo 2).
This brief starts where responsible research should: with the source description of “Sidi (company)” as italian company that manufactures protective wear for motorcycling and cycling. Everything that follows is an evidence route, not borrowed authority.
Why this record matters
The subject matters to the history & society register because the source frames it as italian company that manufactures protective wear for motorcycling and cycling. Its deeper value depends on whether names, dates, institutions and citations support that framing.
The record creator and administrative purpose are central evidence, because official documentation reflects both action and institutional priorities. The source revision retrieved here is dated Sep 12, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q3459588. VIAF identifies the subject as 149471396. 2 of 3 selected statements include explicit references; 0 carry qualifiers and 0 use preferred rank. The first chronological checks are 1960 and 1973.
Official terminology may obscure informal participation, dissent or communities documented only indirectly. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
