Riotuerto
municipality of Spain

Riotuerto (Rutuertu in Cantabrian) is one of the municipalities of Cantabria, lying between the North Coast of the Cantábrican Sea and the mountains of the Cantabrian Sierra. It is part of the ancient merindad (shire) of Trasmiera. The centre of Riotuerto is La Cavada, once the home of the famed Royal Artillery Factory and now the site of the Town Hall, library and cannon museum. Other barrios include Barrio de Arriba, Lombana, Monte and Angustina.
Begin with the source’s own compact description: “Riotuerto” is municipality of Spain. The dossier treats that line as a proposition to test through Riotuerto, municipality and Spain, not as a finished interpretation.
Why this record matters
The phrase “municipality of Spain” supplies a clear boundary for inquiry. It also exposes the unanswered questions: who defined that boundary, when it became stable and which sources sit outside it.
Named sources, stable identifiers and responsible institutions provide the strongest route from overview to verifiable evidence. The source revision retrieved here is dated Jul 24, 2025. The linked authority identifier is Q1643624. VIAF identifies the subject as 316734913. Authority coordinates are 43.353, -3.705. 1 of 2 selected statements include explicit references; 0 carry qualifiers and 0 use preferred rank.
The absence of detail may reflect summary conventions rather than a lack of surviving documentation. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
