Source-derived summary

Pieve Porto Morone is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Pavia in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 45 km southeast of Milan and about 25 km southeast of Pavia.

History

The origins of the town date back to the Middle Ages, and its name is linked to the word “Pieve,” which in Italy refers to the main rural church that served as a religious and administrative center for the surrounding villages. The name “Porto Morone” is related to its location near the Po River, where a small river crossing or port once existed and was used for transportation and trade in the past .

During the Middle Ages, the area was under the influence of nearby cities such as Pavia. It later became part of the Duchy of Milan, before eventually being incorporated into the unified Italy in the nineteenth century.

Editorial summary

The public source identifies “Pieve Porto Morone” as italian comune. This brief keeps that definition visible, then builds a research path around Pieve, Porto and Morone.

Editorial reviewA practical starting point whose main value is the path it opens into stronger specialist and primary sources. The current 168-word lead offers orientation but no explicit four-digit date, so chronology should not be assumed. The selected authority fields contribute no independent date. Its value is orientation rather than verdict, with Pieve, Porto and Morone providing the first useful test.

Why this record matters

A short description can identify a subject without explaining its stakes. For “Pieve Porto Morone”, the useful work is to connect “italian comune” to the records capable of establishing context and consequence.

Evidence profile

Vocabulary and entity names are the principal evidence signals here, because they determine the precision of every later search. The source revision retrieved here is dated Sep 16, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q40530. Authority coordinates are 45.110, 9.437. 2 of 2 selected statements include explicit references; 0 carry qualifiers and 0 use preferred rank.

Critical limits

A concise general-reference account can conceal disagreements about scope, terminology or the weight assigned to individual sources. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.

How to read it
