Anilinium chloride
chemical compound

Anilinium chloride is the organic compound with the formula C6H5NH+3Cl−. It is a white solid and the chloride salt of anilinium, which is the conjugate acid of aniline, C6H5NH2. Anilinium chloride is produced by treatment of aniline with hydrochloric acid. The cation consists of a phenyl ring attached to a tetrahedral ammonium center. The C-N bond elongates from 1.41 Å in aniline to 1.474 Å in anilinium.
Uses
Anilinium chloride is used as a precursor to diphenylamine by heating with aniline:
C6H5NH2 + C6H5NH3Cl → (C6H5)2NH + NH3 + HCl
It reacts with formaldehyde to give methylenedianiline, a precursor to commercial polymers.
This brief starts where responsible research should: with the source description of “Anilinium chloride” as chemical compound. Everything that follows is an evidence route, not borrowed authority.
Why this record matters
The subject matters to the science & nature register because the source frames it as chemical compound. Its deeper value depends on whether names, dates, institutions and citations support that framing.
Datasets, specimens, observations and peer-reviewed methods provide the appropriate test for the technical claims summarized here. The source revision retrieved here is dated Jul 22, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q2287905. None of the 0 selected statements returned an explicit reference.
Current terminology should not be projected backward without checking the classification used when the underlying evidence was created. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
How to read it
Check terminology, classification and the date of the cited evidence. Scientific names and technical consensus can change while older records retain historical value.

Three-step research path
- Establish the record: confirm the title “Anilinium chloride”, its source revision and the description used here.
- Expand the search: follow Anilinium chloride primary sources, Anilinium chloride archive and Anilinium research across catalogues and specialist indexes.
- Test the account: compare the strongest cited source with the responsible institution’s current record and note any disagreement.
Questions for further research
