Pabrik Kertas Indonesia
Indonesian pulp and paper company

PT Pabrik Kertas Indonesia (lit. 'Indonesian Paper Mill'; commonly abbreviated Pakerin) is an Indonesian manufacturer of industrial paper and inorganic chemicals headquartered in Surabaya, East Java. Its mill complex is located in Bangun village, Pungging District, Mojokerto Regency. The company was established in 1977 and began commercial production in 1980.
Since 2020, there has been a dispute over the company's management involving the heirs of its founder. Its paper production has been halted since December 2024.
History
Pakerin was founded by Njoo Soegiharto. Since beginning commercial production in 1980, the company has expanded its installed capacity from 15,000 tonnes per year to a design capacity of 700,000 tonnes per year. According to the company, Pakerin pioneered the use of bagasse as a source of pulp in Indonesia, and post-consumer recycled materials supply more than 80 percent of its fibre requirements.
Products and facilities
Pakerin's main products are packaging-grade industrial papers: kraftliner, corrugating medium, coated duplex board, chipboard and core board. It also produces inorganic chemicals, including caustic soda and hydrochloric acid.
Begin with the source’s own compact description: “Pabrik Kertas Indonesia” is indonesian pulp and paper company. The dossier treats that line as a proposition to test through Pabrik, Kertas and Indonesia, not as a finished interpretation.
Why this record matters
The phrase “indonesian pulp and paper company” supplies a clear boundary for inquiry. It also exposes the unanswered questions: who defined that boundary, when it became stable and which sources sit outside it.
Chronology, provenance and viewpoint should be read together before a broad social or political interpretation is accepted. The source revision retrieved here is dated Sep 23, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q19752345. Authority coordinates are -7.235, 112.746. None of the 1 selected statements returned an explicit reference. The first chronological checks are 1977, 1980, 2020 and 2024.
Official terminology may obscure informal participation, dissent or communities documented only indirectly. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
