Montcherand (French pronunciation: [mɔ̃ʃ(ə)ʁɑ̃]) is a municipality in the district of Jura-Nord Vaudois in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.
History
Montcherand is first mentioned in 1324 as Montcherant.
Geography
Montcherand has an area, as of 2009, of 3.1 square kilometers (1.2 mi2). Of this area, 1.62 km2 (0.63 mi2) or 52.9% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.93 km2 (0.36 mi2) or 30.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.42 km2 (0.16 mi2) or 13.7% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01 km2 (2.5 acres) or 0.3% is either rivers or lakes and 0.04 km2 (9.9 acres) or 1.3% is unproductive land.
