Milda ventricosa
species of mollusc

Milda ventricosa, common name the ventricose pyram, is a species of small to medium-sized sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the (mostly minute) family Pyramidellidae, the pyram snails.
Distribution
This species is found in the western and central tropical Indo-West Pacific; also off Japan and Australia (Northern Territory, Queensland)
Description
The length of the shell varies between 15 mm and 33 mm.
The shell is ovate, turreted, polished, pointed at its summit, indistinctly striated in its whole length. The spire is composed of ten slightly convex whorls. The withish body whorl is a little swollen. All the whorls are adorned with longitudinal, undulated, reddish, or brown lines, quite near together. Wide, brown spots often partially cover them, a line equally brown passes over each whorl. Upon the body whorl are found three others, which sometimes form quite large bands of the same color. The sutures are slightly canaliculated. The ovate aperture is whitish, marked likewise, with a few brown lines towards the depth of the cavity, exhibiting pretty distinct furrows.
Begin with the source’s own compact description: “Milda ventricosa” is species of mollusc. The dossier treats that line as a proposition to test through Milda, ventricosa and species, not as a finished interpretation.
Why this record matters
The phrase “species of mollusc” supplies a clear boundary for inquiry. It also exposes the unanswered questions: who defined that boundary, when it became stable and which sources sit outside it.
Stable identifiers, scientific names and standards terminology offer the best bridge between this overview and specialist evidence. The source revision retrieved here is dated Dec 30, 2023. The linked authority identifier is Q13856633. None of the 0 selected statements returned an explicit reference.
Scientific names, classifications and consensus can change while older terminology persists in catalogues and historical literature. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
