Plot
Thulasi, who grew up as an orphan girl and always dreamt of owning a house, becomes insecure when she finds that she and her husband, Muralikrishna, have to leave the apartment they rent. Murali giving her the keys of a new house proves to be a double-edged sword, as he is in love with another woman, Kavitha, with whom he earned the money (in the film industry) for the new apartment. While previously giving advice to her maid cheated on by her husband, now Thulasi finds herself in the same situation.
When Murali deserts Thulasi for Kavitha, she chooses to leave the apartment for a women's hostel with only ₹2,000 (equivalent to ₹14,000 or US$150 in 2023) that she had when she got married. She is helped by Gowrishankar, a singer, to overcome the difficulties of life as a single person, to find a job and to rely emotionally on herself.

Why this record matters

Reception evidence should be dated and situated: later canonical status may differ sharply from the work’s initial circulation. The source revision retrieved here is dated Jun 28, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q6777980. 1 of 1 selected statements include explicit references; 0 carry qualifiers and 0 use preferred rank. The first chronological checks are 1993, 1982 and 2023.
Titles can refer to several editions, objects or performances, making precise identification essential before interpretation. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
