Lubeck is a census-designated place (CDP) in Wood County, West Virginia, United States. It is part of the Parkersburg-Marietta-Vienna metropolitan area. The population was 1,309 at the 2020 census. Though first named Watertown, postmaster Theodore Frederick Henry Slevogt in 1856 changed the name to Lubeck after his hometown in Germany.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.3 square miles (11.0 km2), all land.
Demographics
At the 2000 census, there were 1,303 people, 510 households and 403 families living in the CDP. The population density was 305.0 per square mile (117.8/km2). There were 540 housing units at an average density of 126.4/sq mi (48.8/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.70% White, 0.46% African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.08% from other races, and 0.61% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.23% of the population.
There were 510 households, of which 32.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.1% were married couples living together, 8.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.8% were non-families.
