Lana Kolbrún Eddudóttir
icelandic LGBTQ activist
Lana Kolbrún Eddudóttir (born 1965) is an Icelandic queer activist. Kolbrún was the former director at RÚV, with multiple television appearances. She served on the prime minister's office committee.
Early life
Kolbrún studied history at the University of Iceland. She is the first female and youngest chair of Samtokin '78, and was on the committee responsible for the recognition of same-sex civil partnerships with Guðni Baldursson. The organization's first marches drew only a few dozen people; Kolbrún later described this period as "primitive".
In the 1980s, Kolbrún and her partner Elísabet Þorgeirsdóttir formed one of the first openly lesbian public couples in Iceland. Þorgeirsdóttir was another active member of Samtökin '78; she also worked as an editor, journalist, and social worker.
She lives in Reykjavík with her partner.
