Kyaukpyu Airport is an airport in Kyaukpyu, Myanmar (IATA: KYP, ICAO: VYKP).

The runway of Kyaukpyu Airport was 1,408 metres (4,620 ft) long and 30 metres (100 ft) wide. It is able to handle Fokker F28 Fellowship jet aircraft used by Myanma Airways. It is planned to extend the runway by 305 metres (1,000 ft) in 2011 and 427 metres (1,400 ft) in next two years. After that it will have a length of 2,134 metres (7,000 ft) (ATR 72 capable) and a width of 30 metres (100 ft). Editorial summary

Begin with the source’s own compact description: “Kyaukpyu Airport” is airport in Myanmar. The dossier treats that line as a proposition to test through Kyaukpyu, Airport and airport, not as a finished interpretation.

Editorial reviewA valuable geographic starting point for tracing changing names, boundaries, uses and administrative responsibility. The current lead gives the account dated anchors—2011, 2020—that can be checked directly. The selected authority fields contribute no independent date. For this dossier, Kyaukpyu, Airport and airport is the immediate research focus.
Editorial analysis

Why this record matters

The phrase “airport in Myanmar” supplies a clear boundary for inquiry. It also exposes the unanswered questions: who defined that boundary, when it became stable and which sources sit outside it.

Evidence profile

The strongest evidence will usually combine a dated visual record with documents produced by the authority responsible for the place. The source revision retrieved here is dated Jul 7, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q3277249. Authority coordinates are 19.426, 93.535. 2 of 2 selected statements include explicit references; 0 carry qualifiers and 0 use preferred rank. The first chronological checks are 2011 and 2020.

Critical limits

Modern boundaries and familiar names can conceal earlier jurisdictions or structures that do not align with the present site. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.

How to read it

Treat names, boundaries and functions as historically changeable. Maps, plans, inventories and administrative records can clarify what the place meant at different dates.
