Kolchyno
human settlement

Kolchyno (Ukrainian: Кольчино; Hungarian: Kölcsény; Slovak: Kolčino) is a rural settlement in Mukacheve Raion, Zakarpattia Oblast, western Ukraine. The town's population was 4,407 as of the 2001 Ukrainian Census. Current population: 4,198 (2022 estimate).
History
Until 26 January 2024, Kolchyno was designated urban-type settlement. On this day, a new law entered into force which abolished this status, and Kolchyno became a rural settlement.
Begin with the source’s own compact description: “Kolchyno” is human settlement. The dossier treats that line as a proposition to test through Kolchyno, human and settlement, not as a finished interpretation.
Why this record matters
The phrase “human settlement” supplies a clear boundary for inquiry. It also exposes the unanswered questions: who defined that boundary, when it became stable and which sources sit outside it.
Named sources, stable identifiers and responsible institutions provide the strongest route from overview to verifiable evidence. The source revision retrieved here is dated Nov 24, 2025. The linked authority identifier is Q729651. Authority coordinates are 48.467, 22.767. 2 of 2 selected statements include explicit references; 0 carry qualifiers and 0 use preferred rank. The first chronological checks are 2001, 2022 and 2024.
The absence of detail may reflect summary conventions rather than a lack of surviving documentation. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
