Source-derived summary

John Waller. Limbong (born 1944) in Boho North Sumatra is an Indonesian educator and businessman who is the founder and president of the University of International Golden Indonesia. He received a M.A and M.Sc in economics in 1982 from Brigham Young University (BYU) and subsequently earned a PhD from the University of Utah in 1982. Limbong says that while a student at BYU, one night he had a dream where Brigham Young visited him and asked him to establish a university in Limbong's native Jakarta, Indonesia. Limbong vacillated, as he worked for Bank Indonesia for a while, but he later quit that job to pursue this dream.

Editorial analysis

Why this record matters

The phrase “indonesian academic” supplies a clear boundary for inquiry. It also exposes the unanswered questions: who defined that boundary, when it became stable and which sources sit outside it.

Evidence profile

Vocabulary and entity names are the principal evidence signals here, because they determine the precision of every later search. The source revision retrieved here is dated Jan 23, 2025. The linked authority identifier is Q6262379. 1 of 1 selected statements include explicit references; 0 carry qualifiers and 0 use preferred rank. The first chronological checks are 1944 and 1982.

Critical limits

A concise general-reference account can conceal disagreements about scope, terminology or the weight assigned to individual sources. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.

How to read it
