Source-derived summary

Turbine Fuel Low Volatility JP-7, commonly known as JP-7 is a specialized type of jet fuel developed at Pratt and Whitney by master chemist Clarence Brown (CB) Eichman in 1955 for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for use in its reconnaissance aircraft, the Lockheed A-12, and subsequently for aircraft with similar high speed performance, the Lockheed YF-12 and Lockheed SR-71. It was also used for the higher speed Boeing X-51 Waverider.

Editorial summary

This brief starts where responsible research should: with the source description of “JP-7” as jet fuel formulation for certain supersonic aircraft. Everything that follows is an evidence route, not borrowed authority.

Editorial reviewA dependable orientation record for establishing vocabulary, names and a first evidence trail. The current lead gives the account dated anchors—1955—that can be checked directly. The selected authority fields contribute no independent date. The account is most persuasive where JP-7, fuel and formulation can be independently traced.
Editorial analysis

Why this record matters

The subject matters to the general reference register because the source frames it as jet fuel formulation for certain supersonic aircraft. Its deeper value depends on whether names, dates, institutions and citations support that framing.

Evidence profile

The citation trail is more important than the brevity of the summary: it shows where individual claims can be examined in context. The source revision retrieved here is dated Sep 17, 2026. The first chronological checks are 1955.

Critical limits

A concise general-reference account can conceal disagreements about scope, terminology or the weight assigned to individual sources. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.

How to read it

Use the entry as an orientation point, then follow its citations and revision history. Names, dates and institutional relationships should be checked against the original record.
