Source-derived summary

Glåmos is a former municipality in the old Sør-Trøndelag county in Norway. The 239-square-kilometre (92 sq mi) municipality existed from 1926 until its dissolution in 1964. It was located in the northern part of what is now Røros Municipality in Trøndelag county. It included all the area around the headwaters of the river Glåma and the areas surrounding the northern and western sides of the lake Aursunden. The administrative centre was the village of Glåmos where Glåmos Church is located.

Prior to its dissolution in 1964, the 238.9-square-kilometre (92.2 sq mi) municipality was the 337th largest by area out of the 689 municipalities in Norway. Glåmos Municipality was the 656th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of about 703. The municipality's population density was 2.9 inhabitants per square kilometre (7.5/sq mi) and its population had decreased by 19.6% over the previous 10-year period.

The municipality had copper mines located in the mountains near the village that used to supply the Røros Copper Works in the nearby town of Røros.

Editorial analysis

Why this record matters

“Glåmos Municipality” is worth following because a concise public description often conceals a longer documentary argument. Here, Glåmos, Municipality and former provides the most credible route into that argument.

Evidence profile

Vocabulary and entity names are the principal evidence signals here, because they determine the precision of every later search. The source revision retrieved here is dated Sep 20, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q48989656. Authority coordinates are 62.671, 11.429. 2 of 2 selected statements include explicit references; 0 carry qualifiers and 0 use preferred rank. The first chronological checks are 1926 and 1964.

Critical limits

Overview language is designed for orientation and should not be treated as a substitute for the evidence cited beneath it. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.

How to read it

Use the entry as an orientation point, then follow its citations and revision history. Names, dates and institutional relationships should be checked against the original record.
