Faberge workmaster (1836–1901)

Erik August Kollin (28 December 1836 – 1901) was a Finnish jeweler who worked for Fabergé in St. Petersburg.
Early life
Kollin was born in Pohja in southwest Finland. He studied as a journeyman with gold and silversmith Alexander Palmén in Ekenäs in 1858, before travelling to St. Petersburg.
Career
He qualified as workmaster in 1868 at August Holmström's workshop, and in 1870 opened his own workshop in St. Petersburg. Kollin worked for August Holmström and for Carl Fabergé, and was soon put in charge of all Fabergé workshops, a post he held until 1886 when he was replaced by Michael Perkhin.

Why this record matters
The phrase “faberge workmaster (1836–1901)” supplies a clear boundary for inquiry. It also exposes the unanswered questions: who defined that boundary, when it became stable and which sources sit outside it.
Vocabulary and entity names are the principal evidence signals here, because they determine the precision of every later search. The source revision retrieved here is dated Jun 1, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q4351954. 1 of 1 selected statements include explicit references; 0 carry qualifiers and 0 use preferred rank. The first chronological checks are 1836, 1901, 1858 and 1868.
Overview language is designed for orientation and should not be treated as a substitute for the evidence cited beneath it. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
