Source-derived summary

The Endless are a family of cosmic beings who appear in American comic books published by DC Comics. The members of the family are: Destiny, Death, Dream, Destruction, Desire, Despair and Delirium (formerly Delight).

The Endless characters were created by Neil Gaiman, loosely based on the chthonic gods. They are the children of the primordial entities Chronos (time) and Nyx (night) (taken from Greek mythology)

The Endless first appeared in the comic book series The Sandman (1989–1996). They personify aspects of existence within the DC Universe and are among the most powerful beings in that world. The Endless are distinct from gods in the DC universe, which are created by mortal belief. The character Dream is the protagonist of The Sandman series, but all the Endless play major roles.

The Endless are a dysfunctional family of seven siblings. They appear in different forms but are most often depicted as having very white skin and black hair, with the exception of redheads Delirium and Destruction. Their appearance often changes to fit the expectations of those they meet or the situation they are in.

Editorial analysis

Why this record matters

“Endless (comics)” is worth following because a concise public description often conceals a longer documentary argument. Here, Endless, comics and Sandman provides the most credible route into that argument.

Evidence profile

Vocabulary and entity names are the principal evidence signals here, because they determine the precision of every later search. The source revision retrieved here is dated Jul 30, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q2707815. None of the 0 selected statements returned an explicit reference. The first chronological checks are 1989 and 1996.

Critical limits

Overview language is designed for orientation and should not be treated as a substitute for the evidence cited beneath it. The source lead contains qualifying language; that uncertainty should survive quotation, summary and reuse. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.

How to read it

Use the entry as an orientation point, then follow its citations and revision history. Names, dates and institutional relationships should be checked against the original record.
