Early models
The early Dell Inspiron models listed below went through a number of changes from 1997 to 2006, so the specifications on each model may be incomplete or incorrect. There are also some earlier models than these, but those have not been added to the list yet. The Inspiron 1545, and 1546 are not in this list.
Inspiron 3000 (1997)
The very first Inspiron laptop was the Inspiron 3000, released in 1997. It came in three specific models, the M166ST, M200ST, and M233XT, spanning three different processor clock speeds and two screen sizes. The first model to be released was the 266 MHz M233XT, which was then followed by the two lower end models, the M166ST clocked at 166 MHz, with 16MB of SDRAM, a 2.1GB hard drive, and a 12.1" screen, and the M200ST clocked at 200 MHz, with 32MB of RAM, and presumably also a 12.1" screen (if the 'S' in the model number corresponds to SVGA).
Processor: Intel Pentium MMX, running at 166, 200, or 233 MHz
Chipset: Intel 430TX
Cache memory: The M166ST had 32 KiB of internal CPU cache memory and 256 KiB of external L2 cache memory (pipeline-burst SRAM). The M200ST, and M233XT differed by having 512 KiB of L2 cache.
Begin with the source’s own compact description: “Dell Inspiron laptops” is laptops. The dossier treats that line as a proposition to test through Dell, Inspiron and laptops, not as a finished interpretation.
Why this record matters
The phrase “laptops” supplies a clear boundary for inquiry. It also exposes the unanswered questions: who defined that boundary, when it became stable and which sources sit outside it.
The citation trail is more important than the brevity of the summary: it shows where individual claims can be examined in context. The source revision retrieved here is dated Sep 14, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q54871484. None of the 0 selected statements returned an explicit reference. The first chronological checks are 1999, 1997, 2006 and 1545.
The absence of detail may reflect summary conventions rather than a lack of surviving documentation. The source lead contains qualifying language; that uncertainty should survive quotation, summary and reuse. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
