Source-derived summary

Chloronia gaianii is a species of dobsonfly that is endemic to Venezuela as of 2022.

Description

This species is most similar to C. hieroglyphica. C. gaianii is generally larger in both sexes and has four posterolateral spots on the head arranged behind the eye and in front of the pronotum, which is similar to C. bogotana, a member of the C. hieroglyphica species group and C. pennyi. The tenth sternite lobes of the male genitalia of C. gaianii are directed mesally with sclerotized tips, which is characteristic for the species. They are not sclerotized in C. hieroglyphica.

Etymology

The specific epithet "gaianii" is a tribute to Marco A. Gaiani of MIZA, who hosted the author of this species during his trip to Venezuela. The author described him as an enthusiast of Venezualan insect diversity.

Editorial summary

The public source identifies “Chloronia gaianii” as species of insect. This brief keeps that definition visible, then builds a research path around Chloronia, gaianii and species.

Editorial reviewA sound reference starting point where classification, measurement and the date of the underlying evidence remain visible. The current lead gives the account dated anchors—2022—that can be checked directly. The selected authority fields contribute no independent date. Its value is orientation rather than verdict, with Chloronia, gaianii and species providing the first useful test.
Editorial analysis

Why this record matters

A short description can identify a subject without explaining its stakes. For “Chloronia gaianii”, the useful work is to connect “species of insect” to the records capable of establishing context and consequence.

Evidence profile

Stable identifiers, scientific names and standards terminology offer the best bridge between this overview and specialist evidence. The source revision retrieved here is dated Aug 6, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q3990058. None of the 0 selected statements returned an explicit reference. The first chronological checks are 2022.

Critical limits

A general summary may omit uncertainty, sample limits or methodological disagreement that is explicit in the technical record. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.

How to read it

Check terminology, classification and the date of the cited evidence. Scientific names and technical consensus can change while older records retain historical value.
