History
Founding and Orientation
The company was founded in 2014 by Eric Demuth, Paul Klanschek, and Christian Trummer. In the early days, Bitpanda was a platform on which only cryptocurrencies were traded. Initially, the company operated under the name Coinimal GmbH, while the cryptocurrency trading platform was always known as Bitpanda. From 2017 onwards, vouchers for Bitcoins could be purchased at over 1,800 locations of the Österreichische Post, which could be redeemed on the Bitpanda platform. In 2017, 15 employees achieved a net profit of US$12.49 million, and processed transactions with various cryptocurrencies amounting to $672 million.
This brief starts where responsible research should: with the source description of “Bitpanda” as crypto exchange. Everything that follows is an evidence route, not borrowed authority.
Why this record matters
The subject matters to the general reference register because the source frames it as crypto exchange. Its deeper value depends on whether names, dates, institutions and citations support that framing.
The citation trail is more important than the brevity of the summary: it shows where individual claims can be examined in context. The source revision retrieved here is dated Jul 30, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q109391386. None of the 8 selected statements returned an explicit reference. The first chronological checks are 2021, 2022, 2014 and 2017.
The absence of detail may reflect summary conventions rather than a lack of surviving documentation. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
