Source-derived summary

Bar railway station (Montenegrin: Жељезничка станица Бар, romanized: Željeznička stanica Bar) is a railway station located in Bar, Montenegro.

History

The decision to build the railway connection between Belgrade and Bar was made in 1952 as a national project of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. However, the construction was passed to the constituent Republics, SR Serbia and SR Montenegro, to build on their own sections. The Podgorica – Bar section was completed in 1959, with the construction works concluded on 27 November 1975 by joining the railway tracks south of Kolašin. The railway was opened on 28 May 1976 by President Josip Broz Tito and First Lady Jovanka Broz. Electrification was completed at the end of 1977.

Services

It is one of 52 scheduled stops on the Belgrade–Bar railway and the main southern terminal (freight trains continue south to the port). The station is served by both Montenegro Railways and Serbian Railways for regular Serbia-Montenegro routes, however during the summer season, it also serves Macedonian Railways (Bar-Skopje line).

Editorial summary

Begin with the source’s own compact description: “Bar railway station” is railway station in Bar, Montenegro. The dossier treats that line as a proposition to test through railway, station and Montenegro, not as a finished interpretation.

Editorial reviewA strong orientation record where physical form, institutional use and historical geography need to be read together. The current lead gives the account dated anchors—1952, 1959, 1975, 1976—that can be checked directly. The selected authority fields contribute no independent date. For this dossier, railway, station and Montenegro is the immediate research focus.
Editorial analysis

Why this record matters

The phrase “railway station in Bar, Montenegro” supplies a clear boundary for inquiry. It also exposes the unanswered questions: who defined that boundary, when it became stable and which sources sit outside it.

Evidence profile

Place names and jurisdictional language are key evidence: both can reveal earlier catalogue descriptions and overlooked record series. The source revision retrieved here is dated Aug 23, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q4857956. Authority coordinates are 42.087, 19.105. 1 of 1 selected statements include explicit references; 0 carry qualifiers and 0 use preferred rank. The first chronological checks are 1952, 1959, 1975 and 1976.

Critical limits

A single description cannot reconcile every naming convention, rebuilding phase or administrative transfer associated with a place. The source lead contains qualifying language; that uncertainty should survive quotation, summary and reuse. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.

How to read it

Treat names, boundaries and functions as historically changeable. Maps, plans, inventories and administrative records can clarify what the place meant at different dates.
