Source-derived summary

Badiofaux trilamellata is a species of land snail, a terrestrial gastropod mollusk in the family Urocoptidae.

Subspecies

Badiofaux trilamellata tomasensis C. de la Torre & Bartsch, 1972

Badiofaux trilamellata trilamellata (L. Pfeiffer, 1864)

Description

The length of the shell varies between 19 mm and 20 mm, mm, its diameter is 4 mm.

(Original description in Latin) The shell is slightly rimate, cylindrically turreted, and rather solid. It is sculptured with curved rib-like striae. It is violet in color. The spire tapers slowly upward and ends in a truncated apex. There are 12 remaining whorls, which are moderately convex; the body whorl is very briefly detached and is very obscurely subcarinate at the base. The aperture is only slightly oblique, subcircular, and dark brown within, and it is provided with a deep columellar fold. The peristome is continuous, somewhat expanded, and whitish. The internal columella is obliquely coiled by three nearly equal lamellae.

Editorial summary

This brief starts where responsible research should: with the source description of “Badiofaux trilamellata” as species of mollusc. Everything that follows is an evidence route, not borrowed authority.

Editorial reviewA practical orientation to terminology and classification, particularly when read beside dated observations, specimens or technical literature. The current lead gives the account dated anchors—1972, 1864—that can be checked directly. The selected authority fields contribute no independent date. The account is most persuasive where Badiofaux, trilamellata and species can be independently traced.
Editorial analysis

Why this record matters

The subject matters to the science & nature register because the source frames it as species of mollusc. Its deeper value depends on whether names, dates, institutions and citations support that framing.

Evidence profile

The date and method of observation matter as much as the stated conclusion, especially where classification or consensus has changed. The source revision retrieved here is dated Aug 26, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q140814244. None of the 0 selected statements returned an explicit reference. The first chronological checks are 1972 and 1864.

Critical limits

Scientific names, classifications and consensus can change while older terminology persists in catalogues and historical literature. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.

How to read it

Check terminology, classification and the date of the cited evidence. Scientific names and technical consensus can change while older records retain historical value.
