Hylaeamys laticeps
species of mammal

Hylaeamys laticeps, also known as the Atlantic Forest oryzomys or the large-headed rice rat, is a species of rodent in the family Cricetidae.
The rodent is endemic to the Atlantic Forest region of southeastern Brazil.
The taxonomic history of Hylaeamys laticeps has been complex, and the name laticeps has been used for various members of the genera Cerradomys, Euryoryzomys, Transandinomys and Hylaeamys at different times. Until 2006, it was classified in the genus Oryzomys as Oryzomys laticeps. The species Oryzomys seuanezi is now a junior synonym of H. laticeps.

Why this record matters
“Hylaeamys laticeps” is worth following because a concise public description often conceals a longer documentary argument. Here, Hylaeamys, laticeps and species provides the most credible route into that argument.
Datasets, specimens, observations and peer-reviewed methods provide the appropriate test for the technical claims summarized here. The source revision retrieved here is dated Oct 3, 2025. The linked authority identifier is Q1769426. None of the 0 selected statements returned an explicit reference. The first chronological checks are 2006, 2005 and 1531.
A general summary may omit uncertainty, sample limits or methodological disagreement that is explicit in the technical record. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
