Anthoshorea confusa
species of flowering plant

Anthoshorea confusa is a species of plant in the family Dipterocarpaceae. The species name is derived from Latin (confusus = confused) and refers to the fact that this species is often misidentified as Anthoshorea virescens. A. confusa is endemic to Borneo. It is an emergent tree, up to 50 metres (160 ft) tall, in mixed dipterocarp forest on clay-rich soils. It is a light hardwood sold under the trade names of white meranti. A. confusa is found in at least three protected areas (Lambir National Park, Bukit Taviu and Ulu Telupid Forest Reserves), but is threatened elsewhere due to habitat loss.
The public source identifies “Anthoshorea confusa” as species of flowering plant. This brief keeps that definition visible, then builds a research path around Anthoshorea, confusa and species.
Why this record matters
A short description can identify a subject without explaining its stakes. For “Anthoshorea confusa”, the useful work is to connect “species of flowering plant” to the records capable of establishing context and consequence.
Stable identifiers, scientific names and standards terminology offer the best bridge between this overview and specialist evidence. The source revision retrieved here is dated Apr 15, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q130333208. None of the 0 selected statements returned an explicit reference.
Scientific names, classifications and consensus can change while older terminology persists in catalogues and historical literature. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
