Alternatív Közgazdasági Gimnázium
high school in Budapest, Hungary

Alternatív Közgazdasági Gimnázium ("Alternative Secondary School of Economics"), known as AKG by its students, is a six-year high school in Budapest, Hungary.
The basic educational principle of the school is that a child is not preparing for life but is living it. The school has given up the traditional instruments of institutional regulation, including house rules, systems of punishment and reward. These have been replaced with the free flow of information and the freedom of choice, emphasising the individual personalities of students, and taking into account their personal needs and concerns. The nature of this freedom changes along with the different stages of the students' life in the school.

History
AKG has the distinction of being the first non-state school in Hungary (established in 1988). Hungary had no private education since the collectivization that followed the second World War. It was established as an independent teachers' workshop. Its founders and organizers were all practicing educators, who created and developed the curriculum over two years.
This brief starts where responsible research should: with the source description of “Alternatív Közgazdasági Gimnázium” as high school in Budapest, Hungary. Everything that follows is an evidence route, not borrowed authority.
Why this record matters
The subject matters to the history & society register because the source frames it as high school in Budapest, Hungary. Its deeper value depends on whether names, dates, institutions and citations support that framing.
Contemporary correspondence, administrative files and participant testimony can test how later narratives organized the event or institution. The source revision retrieved here is dated Mar 26, 2025. The linked authority identifier is Q681745. Authority coordinates are 47.546, 19.043. None of the 3 selected statements returned an explicit reference. The first chronological checks are 1035 and 1988.
Later summaries often reconcile disputed chronology or motive more neatly than the contemporary record permits. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
