Source-derived summary

Agnyaathavaasi (lit. 'A man in exile') is a 2018 Indian Telugu-language action comedy film written and directed by Trivikram Srinivas. Produced by S. Radha Krishna, the film stars Pawan Kalyan, Aadhi Pinisetty, Keerthy Suresh and Anu Emmanuel. The music was composed by Anirudh Ravichander, marking his debut in Telugu cinema, with cinematography by Manikandan.

The film was released on 10 January 2018, coinciding with the Sankranti festival. Upon release, it received highly negative reviews from critics and audiences, with criticism directed at the direction, screenplay, and pacing, while the music and cinematography received appreciation. The film also sparked controversy for being an alleged copy of the French film, Largo Winch. The film was a disaster at the box office, only recovering roughly half of its investment with earnings of roughly ₹60 crore, and resulting in negative returns for all distributors.

Editorial analysis

Why this record matters

A short description can identify a subject without explaining its stakes. For “Agnyaathavaasi”, the useful work is to connect “2018 Telugu film directed by Trivikram Srinivas” to the records capable of establishing context and consequence.

Evidence profile

Reception evidence should be dated and situated: later canonical status may differ sharply from the work’s initial circulation. The source revision retrieved here is dated Sep 12, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q43302292. 1 of 1 selected statements include explicit references; 0 carry qualifiers and 0 use preferred rank. The first chronological checks are 2018.

Critical limits

Rights, attribution and provenance may remain disputed even when a general reference summary presents a stable account. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.

How to read it

Separate the work, its editions or performances, and its later reception. Catalogue records, publication histories and object files often preserve different parts of that story.
