1. Niederösterreichische Landesliga
football league

The 1. Landesliga, historically the 1. Niederösterreichische Landesliga, is a men's football league in Austria and the highest division run by the Lower Austrian Football Association (NÖFV). It is one of nine Landesligen that together form the fourth level of the Austrian football league system. Sixteen clubs contest it over 30 matchdays, and the champion is promoted to the Regionalliga East.
A provincial championship for clubs outside Vienna was first played in 1913–14 and won by Germania Schwechat. Until 1922 the Austrian championship itself was organised by the Lower Austrian federation and restricted to Viennese clubs, so the national champions also held the title of Meister von Niederösterreich. The division has since occupied the second, third and fourth levels of the national pyramid at different times.
1. Wiener Neustädter SC and Kremser SC share the record with seven titles each.
This brief starts where responsible research should: with the source description of “1. Niederösterreichische Landesliga” as football league. Everything that follows is an evidence route, not borrowed authority.
Why this record matters
The subject matters to the general reference register because the source frames it as football league. Its deeper value depends on whether names, dates, institutions and citations support that framing.
The citation trail is more important than the brevity of the summary: it shows where individual claims can be examined in context. The source revision retrieved here is dated Aug 24, 2026. The linked authority identifier is Q1802359. 2 of 2 selected statements include explicit references; 1 carry qualifiers and 0 use preferred rank. The first chronological checks are 1913 and 1922.
A concise general-reference account can conceal disagreements about scope, terminology or the weight assigned to individual sources. The lead is largely declarative, so disagreement and counter-evidence require a deliberate search beyond the opening account. Authority statements aid reconciliation but still require their own references, qualifiers and ranks to be checked.
